The Workman® Self-Retracting Lanyard
In industries such as steel production, building maintenance, mining, manufacturing & even movie stunt work, self-retracting lanyards (SRL) are pivotal to keep users safe during a fall arrest event. When attached to an anchor point and a full body harness the product is designed to act much like a seat or shoulder belt in a car in which the SRL allows for ease of mobility while keeping a constant tautness to effectively prevent falls. During an event, the internal braking mechanism engages & disperses the energy of the fall over a short distance, which limits the force applied to the user’s body.

As part of the Workman family of cost-conscious products many design iterations took place until a final concept was defined.
