The Workman® Twin Leg Personal Fall Limiter
In the world of fall protection, a personal fall limiter (PFL) is unique in that it is designed to be a compact safety device with a relatively shorter working length of roughly 6 to 9 feet. This lightweight product is worn on the back of the user with one end attached to an anchor point and the other to a D-ring on a user’s body harness.
The Workman® Twin Leg Personal Fall Limiter increases worker productivity by providing greater mobility and continuous connection (100% tie-off ) while moving from one location to another, offering a great alternative to twin leg shock-absorbing lanyards. The Workman Personal Fall Limiter features the ARCA™ Harness Connection. The innovative, integral ARCA Harness Connection makes the Workman Personal Fall Limiter easier to use than any product on the market in which a user simply inserts a D-ring
Key features for this product include:
Dual-locking cams offer redundancy of connection which move in opposite directions to prevent accidental disengagement – only a single cam is required to maintain connection.
A rugged, thermal plastic housing & impact absorbing protective bumpers to increase service life with a 400 lbs working capacity.
RCA Harness Connection available with field-installable lock-out device that results in semi-permanent harness connection, helping to prevent theft or loss.
RFID enabled.
An award winning ‘Most Valuable Team Play’ launch kit that resulted in generating over $250k in revenue sales.
Concept ideation goes through many stages of development before a final product can be produced. For this project, not only were form, function, & ease of use through ergonomics key factors in its design but creating a cost-effective product that would fit well within the existing Workman fall protection family needed to be considered.
Also, marketing your brand to your target audience in a memorable way is as essential as the product itself. Crafting an effective story to illustrate why a user should choose your device over those of a competitor is the ultimate goal for the organization & it’s investors.
The following include:
Product ideation for various product form, function, and design elements.
User ergonomic & product studies depicting easy use of the device no matter the position worn on the harness back by the user.
The innovative inclusion of the Arca quick connect locking mechanism that clicks into a D-ring on a full body harness in a matter of seconds to ensure a secure attachment point in the event of a fall event.
An award-winning launch kit that includes a features & benefits flip chart, a product sell sheet, & USB drive resembling the device that contains electronic copies of additional product collateral (bullets, pricing, etc).
Also included in the launch kit is the Infoshade POP display that was sent to 3,000 distributors for use in retail environments. This 1 to 1 scale display of the product features a pull-out shade containing all the key features & a QR code to link to more detailed information.
